Getting to Glencree Reconciliation Centre

A bus from Dublin for those guests who don't wish to drive to Glencree, will be available but please do let us know as soon as you can.

Directions:

From the Airport (Route 1)

Take the MI heading Southbound and then take the M50 motorway southbound (Sign for N2, N3, N4 etc.) Stay on the M50 for some time (passing through the toll bridge) and come off at exit 12; the FIRHOUSE / BALLYBODEN /KNOCKLYON exit.

Once you come off the motorway, turn right for FIRHOUSE and you will pass over the motorway, coming to a roundabout. Turn left here (you will see a sign for 'KILLAKEE' as you turn.

Passing straight through another, smaller roundabout, you will come on to a smaller road leading to a country lane. You will then come to a T-Junction, where you turn left. Follow this steep road and you will come to another T-Junction, where you turn right.

You are now on the Killakee Road. Follow this road as it climbs uphill and eventually comes to a fork with a small car park on the right hand side.

Take the right fork and follow the mountain road as it stays level for a bit and then starts to climb downhill again, where you come to a sharp left turn for Glencree. Turn left, and the Centre is about 100 yards down this road on the right hand side, after the Church.

Travelling time from the Airport: 1 hour

Travelling time from the M50 exit: 15 minutes

From Belfast (Route 1)

Follow the M1 as it comes into Dublin from Dundalk and Drogheda, and then take the exit for the M50 motorway after Dublin Airport. Stay on the M50 for some time (passing through the toll bridge) and come off at exit 12; the FIRHOUSE / BALLYBODEN /KNOCKLYON exit.

From Dublin City Centre (Route 2)

Leave the City Centre heading South through Harold’s Cross, then Terenure, then Rathfarnham.

Turn right at the Yellow House Pub in Rathfarnham, then follow this road for about 2 miles passing the Tuning Fork pub on the left hand side, and passing through a crossroads.

After the Statoil Garage on the left hand side, you will come to a roundabout. Go straight through this roundabout, and then take the next right hand turn.

Take the next left, and stay on this road as it climbs uphill and eventually comes to a fork with a small car park on the right hand side.

Take the right fork and follow the mountain road as it stays level for a bit and then starts to climb downhill again, where you come to a sharp left turn for Glencree. Turn left, and the Centre is about 100 yards down this road on the right hand side, after the Church.

Travelling time from City Centre: 45 minutes

Travelling time from Rathfarnham: 20 minutes

From Sandyford (Route 3)

From Sandyford follow signs for Enniserry and go straight at the Lamb’s Cross crossroads onto the Enniskerry Road. Follow this road as it passes through Stepaside and Kilternan and leads into Enniskerry village.

Keep right as you drive through the village (passing the monument on your left hand side) and then go straight on, following this steep road as it goes out of the village and climbs uphill into the Glencree Valley.

The journey on this road will take about 15 minutes from Enniskerry, and it levels off as you come close to the Glencree Centre. You will pass a church and a school before you arrive at the Centre at the top of the valley.

You pass the German Cemetery on the right hand side and the road bends round to the left – you will see the Centre there on the left hand side just before the Church.

Travelling time from Sandyford: 25 minutes

From the N11 (Stillorgan, Blackrock, Dun Laoghaire, Bray etc.) Route 4

Take the N11 heading towards Bray On N11/M11 Southbound, and then take the exit for Bray/Enniskerry. As you go onto the roundabout, take exit for Enniskerry, which leads onto the Flyover, and then a second roundabout. Then take the exit signposed Enniskerry (This will take you onto the Northbound carriageway of the N11 (Dublin-bound).

Take the next left turn off the N11 signposted Enniskerry & Powerscourt. Follow this winding road at it leads into Enniskerry village.

Keep right as you drive through the village (passing the monument on your left hand side) and then go straight on, following this steep road as it goes out of the village and climbs uphill into the Glencree Valley.
